UCLA Medical Center in the news

Electronic medical records (EMRs) are the new it thing amongst providers. Kaiser, The Cleveland Clinic, Microsoft are three of the largest organizations to publicly speak about their move toward having patient history online and 100 percent accessible from a computer (some programs differ as to whom can access and from where.)

Lately it has been revealed that UCLA staff members have been caught searching the medical records of Brittney Spears, Maria Shriver and Farrah Fawcett

It would be pretty smart for someone to position their expert on EMRs with the media and have them slip in that this would not have happened at UCLA if they had EMRs...just a way to make an ever green expert timely.

Congrats to the Post

Congrats to the Washington Post for their six Pulitzer Prizes including the public service medal...the most distinguished.

But what I really like is that I read the article on latimes.com (it is an AP article, so I doubt anyone really read it), but there is no mention of the Los Angeles Times. I guess newspapers do just report the news, sometimes.

I posted the article below for the rest of the winners, but who knows if it will show up. I still have not figured out my blog...

Penn out...who's in??

With Penn ousted out of the Clinton campaign, I am curious to see who they get in there. Someone that has ties to their past successes? Someone that the democratic party likes? A no name new to Washington? If they're smart they'll hire Nader and then they will get all the Environmental and Independant votes they always whine that he steals every election:).

Stand By Your Man or would you?

A Los Angeles Times blog Top of the Ticket had an interesting post today asking readers, "what would you do to Eliot?", regarding the Spitzer scandal. I always think about that when a politician is caught cheating on their wife. I think only once have I heard about a female politician accused of infidelity. The past few I can remember though have been men. And the wife always stands by her husband. Looking like she was drugged and convinced that it was a good idea to be there, be "supportive." The blog post allowed for readers to vote on what they would do to Eliot. But not one choice was to not show for the press conference. None of them said pack up, move out and start over with your life, because you have been relieved of public duty. When Governor McGreevey's wife stood by his side during his apology for having an affair with a man, she later appeared on the Today Show and said she stood next to him because people told her she had to for herself and him  as well as the media. Because they would wonder where she was and they would come looking for her. I wonder if someone had a similar conversation with Mrs. Spitzer? Because I don't think I would stand up in front of the media and make it look like everything is OK. But, I also wonder if the media pressure would make me feel different? Is there too much expectation of people emotionally by the media during times of difficulty? Discuss...I think so.

Primary Hangover!

I don't know why I got into this primary Tuesday when I didn't even care about the Commonwealth's primary (which is open and can do a lot of damage, but that's for another post.) I have to say that I was surprised by Clinton's victory in Texas...for some reason, I really thought the caucus' would help him win.

On a previous post...never heard a thing about "that guy" (Nader) last night. Thank you media Gods!

That Nader guy!

Ralph Nader (known on this blog as "this guy" with an eye roll) announced that he is running for President, AGAIN...this will be "this guy's" fifth attempt (if you count his 1992 write-in candidacy according to CNN.) He is upset that the democrats are blaming him for the Bush Presidency...yadda, yadda, yadda. And Hillary seems to be fuming that she will have to fight for votes against "this guy." He is her worst nightmare...and he is not going away. Obama is junior and is hoping he will fade away...a little ignorant, but oh well.

We all know that "this guy" is like green house gas emissions, you are always trying to find a way to get rid of it or at least lower it's imapct on the environment. He is pretty toxic and does not accompish the goals he sets out to: providing more diversity to the candidacy. But like our environmental problems, "this guy" will not go away with a wish or a hope. We must have policies that regulate it...like you can't run for president if you don't consistently get more than 10 percent of the vote in your past four elections!!!

But, in all seriousness, the media have started their frenzy. Pitting Obama and Clinton against "this guy", polarizing the democratic party and by the way, how does McCain feel about this? He could not be happier...he knows this is a lever pull for the republicans.

This will be the story for the next week and then it will be on to the next serious flub by Clinton...

The race continues though it hasen't started...

John McCain won the Rep. Florida primary, which now makes him the front runner according to CNN.com. A couple of months ago he was characterized has a has-been and old man who is out of touch with Americans.

For this reason, I don't pay attention to election primaries, the polls, or anything that comes before the conventions...it's really just the media warming up for the big race and furthermore, it seems that all the media accomplishes is helping the parties filter out the bad runners and find their best candidate.

Thank you to the media for becoming an important part of the primary process...providing the recaps, the soundbites, the analysis, so I don't have to pay attention.
